The Grand Prix of Baltimore is a major motorsports event in the streets of the Baltimore, running from the historic Inner Harbor to Camden Yard, Labor Day weekend, August 31 - September 2, 2012. The event will feature the IZOD IndyCar Series and the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron.
A new racecar design for 2012 and turbocharged engines from Chevrolet, Honda and Lotus. The starting lineup will include Will Power, the 2011 winner at Baltimore, four-time champion Dario Franchitti and young stars such as Marco Andretti.
Includes a wide array of racecars, from the ultra-exotic 200-mph prototypes (propelled by a variety of engines, including hybrids and diesel-powered machines) to the production-based GT machines.
Who is Andretti Sports Marketing? Andretti Sports Marketing is an agency formed and led by racing legend Michael Andretti. Andretti's companies have previously resurrected race events in Toronto, St. Petersburg, Fla, and Milwaukee. With headquarters in Indianapolis, Andretti Sports Marketing works in collaboration with agencies from MDC Partners such as TEAM Enterprises and BOOM! Marketing to create a network of services in the sports marketing industry with additional offices in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Toronto and New York.
Michael Andretti is also the Chairman, President and CEO of Andretti Autosport, a race team based in Indianapolis. Andretti Autosport teams have won two Indianapolis 500s (2005 and 2007) and three Indy Racing League championships (2004, 2005 and 2007). Andretti Autosport is the only organization with teams entered in each of the development racing series that comprise the Mazda Road to Indy ladder system.
Race On is a Maryland company led by J.P Grant of Grant Capital Management, a Baltimore-based company that provides financial services to municipalities, and Greg O'Neill, Vice President of BMW Construction Specialists a minority owned Baltimore-based construction contractor to city, state and federal agencies. Race On LLC has contracted with Andretti Sports Marketing, who will run all commercial and operational aspects of the Grand Prix.
